With three generations of experience behind us, Brown & Brown Farms is a leader in our industry, a staple in our community, and a can’t-miss destination for you and your family.

Through hosting unique community events, selling fresh produce & locally sourced products, and supplying certified grass seed, it is our mission to offer families and individuals opportunities to invest in their community, buy local, and love where they live.

Our History

The Browns have been a farming family for generations. Our predecessors moved to Miami from Kentucky and in 1915, after deciding they didn’t prefer Miami, they decided to return to Kentucky. By chance, the train that was taking them home broke down in Oxford, FL and the family has been here ever since.

They founded a small general store in Wildwood back in the 1930s, before beginning their farm in 1955 on 93 acres of land. Larry grew up working alongside his father taking care of the fields in Sumter County, Florida. His business saw tremendous growth and Brown and Brown Farms expanded into grass seed production and now grows, harvests, processes, and packages many of the seeds we sell.

Brown and Brown Farms has now expanded to over 1,600 acres with satellite farms in Jackson County, Florida, and Houston County, Alabama. Our main offices are still located where the family roots run deep – on the Sumter/Marion county line in beautiful, sunny Central Florida.

We offer our customers the best of both worlds; we are big enough to cater to all of your agricultural and grass seed needs at competitive prices, however, as a family-run business, we still care about offering customers exceptional, old-fashioned service with honesty and integrity.

In addition to the grass seed business, Brown and Brown Farms is a top destination for agritourism, plus fresh quality produce and farm goods.

Every year we look forward to hosting incredible festivals during the Spring and Fall, entertaining the crowds with one of Central Florida’s largest corn mazes! You will also find that Brown & Brown Farms is the destination for more regular events such as our hugely popular monthly Junk In The Trunk – a bargain hunter’s paradise!
